Securing Your Pump Supply Chain Newsletter

The pandemic has impacted many areas of the global supply chain—from tools, to appliances, to cars and even pumps and their ancillary components that are vital to so many industrial sectors. A growing number of Maintenance, Operations and Facility Managers across Canada are turning to SCG Process to learn about alternative options to help create equipment supply chain security and cost certainty with existing assets and worn parts that are collecting dust in their surplus room or boneyard.
We are approached with a few common challenges: 1) delivery times for new cast pumps and parts are exceedingly long—and getting longer, 2) facilities are facing a growing number of pumps that require immediate repair, and in some cases, they don’t have available spare pumps as they have been put into operation, 3) material pricing keeps increasing, especially for pumps that require exotic alloys.
The good news is that in addition to the leading OEM pumps that we offer, SCG Process has easy to implement programs that provide solutions to supply chain challenges. Our aftermarket team has been developing tailored plans for a variety of industrial facilities in the pulp & paper, chemical and mining sectors based on our unique capabilities. For example, our salvage program collects worn cast parts that contain exotic metals that are often earmarked for scrap but can often be restored to OEM standards at a fraction of the time and cost of buying new. A wide variety of parts can be refurbished to provide rapid spare inventory relief including shafts, impellers, stuffing boxes and volutes. We also offer long-term inventory management programs that work across multiple client sites to centralize inventory management and refurbishment to ensure availability of critical parts while keeping costs low.
This newsletter provides an overview of some of our unique capabilities including our extensive in-house machining capabilities coupled with our North American supply chain of foundries and specialty manufacturing facilities which enable us to provide shorter lead times for critical pumps and parts.
