Non-Metallic Pumps

SCG Process offers a range of non-metallic pumps from MUNSCH that provide an ideal solution for pumping problematic fluids, such as acids, alkalis, chemically contaminated fluids and scrubbing liquids.   MUNSCH has been designing, producing and servicing non-metallic pumps for over 55 years and have established a global installation base.  MUNSCH pumps are used throughout Canada by leading steel producers, smelting facilities and chemical manufacturers due to their robustness, energy efficiency, ease of maintenance and low lifecycle costs.

 Metal Finishing

Metal finishing often involves the pumping of corrosive chemicals.  Non-metallic pumps are often the preferred choice for these applications due to their capability to safely handle corrosive fluids and ability to stand up to component wear.  In many applications, non-metallic pumps are the only option due to their chemical resistance and tolerance to solids.

  • Steel pickling
  • Acid regeneration
  • Galvanizing
  • Anodizing
  • Electro plating
  • Tin plating

Mineral Processing

Mineral processing operations can pose a challenge for pumping operations due to their harsh environments and requirements to handle corrosive fluids.   MUNSCH non-metallic pumps excel under these conditions due to wear-resistant materials, armoured construction and built-in safety features to help protect the environment and employees.

  • Smelting
  • Lithium exploration
  • Leaching
  • Electrolysis
  • Air scrubbing
  • Recycling

General Industry

MUNSCH non-metallic pumps are used in a variety of industrial applications where the handling of corrosive or abrasive fluids is required.  The pumps help to ensure employee health & safety, long component life and effiecint fluid handling to help reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Wastewater treatment
  • Saltwater environments
  • Fertilizer production
  • Insulation production
  • Fine and specialty chemicals

Horizontal Pumps

The MUNSCH NPC horizontal pump is designed for corrosive and abrasive applications with flow rates ranging from 2 to 5,000 m3/h.  Combining the latest hydraulic design with a thick-walled construction, the MUNSCH NPC pump features exceptional efficiency and robustness.  The NPC standardized chemical pump is used whenever maximum up-time is required and metallic pumps face corrosion and wear problems.  Pumps fabricated from thick-walled engineered plastics are extremely robust in applications involving solids-carrying fluids.  Pump part erosion and corrosion are no issue for the NPC pump.

 Features:

  • Robust metal armour around plastic casing to handle pressures up to 16 bar
  • Thick-walled plastic design offers excellent performance on solid laden fluids
  • Optimized hydraulics to ensure a long service life
  • Robust mechanical seal with a high wear and chemical resistance
  • Specialized impellers designed for pumping solids-laden fluids
  • Ease of maintenance featuring a casing drain and no special tool requirements
  • No metallic parts in contact with the fluid

 Vertical Cantilever Pump TPC

MUNSCH type TPC vertical cantilever pumps are dry run proof and are the ideal solution when it comes to pumping solids-laden acids, alkalis, chemically contaminated effluents or when there is a risk of prolonged dry running.  Typical applications include chemical and metal finishing industries, steel and stainless-steel pickling lines, evaporation and regeneration units, wet flue gas scrubbing downstream of waste incinerators as well as exhaust gas scrubbing.

With a flow capacity of up to 600 m3/h, the unit features a vertical centrifugal pump with volute casing and single-entry, single stage radial impeller; without a bottom bearing; the shaft bearing is located outside the path of fluid which is being pumped.

 Features:

  • Vertical depth setting up to 1,800 mm
  • Double v-ring seal
  • ANSI flange connection
  • Three-phase a.c. motor drive
  • Highly resistant surface coating

Vertical Chemical Pump TNP-KL

MUNSCH type TNP-KL vertical chemical pumps are specifically designed to handle acids, alkaline or contaminated fluids with or without solids.  Typical applications include chemical and metal finishing industries, steel and stainless-steel pickling lines, evaporation and regeneration units, wet flue gas scrubbing downstream of waste incinerators as well as exhaust gas scrubbing.

With a flow capacity of up to 600 m3/h, the pump is constructed with a vertical, single-stage, centrifugal pump with volute casing and radial impeller and a nominal pressure PN 10 for wet-end installation.  Dry end installation is also possible.

 Features:

  • Vertical depth setting up to 3,000 mm
  • Single or double mechanical seal design
  • Plain bearing lubrication
  • ANSI flange connection
  • Three-phase a.c. motor drive
  • Highly resistant surface coating
